General: Pygmy Poppy (Eschscholzia minutiflora) is an annual forb with small, dissected leaves and upright flowering stalks bearing tiny yellow-orange poppy flowers.
Pygmy Poppy is a fairly common component of vegetation communities in dry, well-drained sandy and gravelly soils on desert flats and lower bajadas in the Lower Sonoran (Creosote-Bursage Flats) and Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub) life zones.
Around Las Vegas, look for Pygmy Poppy around Lake Mead NRA and Red Rocks NCA during spring.
