General: Narrowleaf Goldenbush (Ericameria linearifolia) is a large, upright shrub with long, narrow leaves. Clusters of yellow flowers are produced at the ends of the branches during spring and early summer.
Leaves to 2 inches, linear, narrow at base. Involucre wide (to 18 mm) and long. Phyllaries elongate, in 2–3 series.
Narrowleaf Goldenbush is a fairly common component of vegetation communities in dry, well-drained gravelly areas on upper bajadas in the Upper Sonoran (Mojave Desert Scrub and Pinyon-Juniper Woodland) life zone.
Around Las Vegas, look for Narrowleaf Goldenbush at higher elevations in Red Rock Canyon NCA (e.g., White Rock Spring and Willow Springs) and in the mountains around town.
