General: Wild Crab Apple (Peraphyllum ramosissimum) is a much branched deciduous shrub or small tree that grows to about 10 feet. The leaves originate from short side-stems, are long oval (lanceolate) to about 2-inches long and may have small prickers on the leaf margins. Flowers are white, five petaled, and have many stamens. Fruits are little crab apples that look like rose hips.

Wild Crab Apple is an uncommon component of vegetation communities in the Upper Sonoran (Pinyon-Juniper Woodland) and Transition (Yellow Pine Forest) life zones.
