General: Funeral Duskywing (Erynnis funeralis) have dark brown wings with small, light spots on the forewings. The hindwings are dark, bordered with a pale edge.

Taxonomy: Family: Skippers (Hesperiidae); Subfamily: Spread-wing Skippers (Pyrginae).

Wing span: To almost 1-3/4 inches.

Hosts: Caterpillars feed on legumes.

Habitat: Deserts, arid lowlands.

Comments: Las Vegas is nearly the northern edge of the range of this species.
